As a former Editor in Chief, I spent over 20 years on major consumer websites and magazines directing the editorial mission and strategy and bringing it to life with incredibly talented teams. I have a proven track record of developing new brands, growing and engaging audiences, and ultimately using storytelling and visuals to inspire action—from buying a pair of lace-up high heel boots to booking a wedding venue.

Most recently, I worked with Hearst Digital Media to create and execute content strategies and campaigns designed to bring together digital brands like Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Esquire with consumer brands such as Coach, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Fitbit. Through branded content on the publishers’ sites and their social media platforms, these projects consistently delivered results and fit well within the editorial ecosystem of the publisher. Each piece, whether it was an instagram post or an on-site shopping gallery, was created with the same standards of editorial excellence users expect from world class brands. This included using top fashion photographers and well-known writers. Data was also a key tool for managing the success. I A/B tested headlines and tracked story angles to see what resonated best. And, through tracking links within each piece, clients were able to gather information on how their products were selling.

Prior to this, I was the editor in chief at XO Group and oversaw digital, video, social and print for The Knot (the #1 wedding website), The Nest and The Bump. I also launched the company’s first in-house branded content agency, The Studio.

As an editorial leader at the The Knot, I was deeply integrated with the e-commerce team as well as the local advertising team. A large part of my job was to understand a couple’s journey from the moment they get engaged to their return from the honeymoon—and all the points of commercial intent along the way. Our company partnered with tens of thousands of wedding venues, florists, invitation designers, etc and my goal was to connect the user to these services at just the moment they needed them and in a way that deepened trust and provided a useful service. I did this through a targeted email strategy, thoughtful site programming, and engaging social promotions.

Before joining XO Group, I had been at several publications and managed teams from two to over 20. Throughout my career I have developed extensive experience not just in content development across multiple platforms, but also in operations and management, including talent acquisition/retention.
